A violência estava lá, é inegável, mas aliada às cabeças rapadas, ao slamdancing, aos jeans and whatnot, lançou sobre o movimento uma sombra, sombra essa que tinha a forma Skinhead. Mas citando Steven Blush uma vez mais: «Contrary to what some people say, there were not hordes of goose-stepping Skinheads at Hardcore shows. But a lot of kids who read about that would emulate Skinhead behaviour. There arose such hysteria over a perceived problem that, by the mid 80s, there became one».
Mas lindo mesmo, é esta declaração de Michael Alago, um music biz exec que viveu aqueles tempos: «Skinheds were kinda scary to me, unless they were cute. Back then, I was absolutely fearless. I loved nasty, tattoed Hardcore boys, and lots of them were filled with so much testosterone that I don't think a lot of them cared whether they got a blow job or had sex with a guy or a girl. So, those Skinheads coming to the scene? I just though it was sexy. I didn't think about politics. I had my own agenda».
